The Inner, The Outer, and the Utmost
These are two pieces from Andrew Groves. I found them on page 53 of the June 2012 issue of Digital Arts. The top piece is a commercial illustration, and the bottom piece is part of his personal collection. It's nice to see how the ideas from one project fueled many more ideas. The pieces share similar simple contours of the figures, as well as a similar color scheme.
I enjoy the elongated layout of the commercial piece, as it forces you to take a closer look. Each figure is participating in his own story, yet they are all unified into one story. The personal piece has a story as well, but it's contained within the boundaries of the brick cube form; I enjoy this contrast.
